Founder at the Echo Nest and Head of Research and Innovation at Spotify
Doctorate in Media Arts and Sciences from MIT. Originally trained as an engineer, Tristan spent 6 years as a researcher at the MIT Media Lab form.
Stellar record as an entrepreneur: co-founded Echo Nest, a revolutionary music intelligence and data platform for developers and media companies such as MTV, BBC, Warner Music, Nokia etc. Echo Nest was sold to Spotify in 2014.
Tristan has dedicated his entire career to music technology and innovation. His academic work combined machine listening and machine learning technologies to teach computers how to listen and make music on their own. The company he co-founded, Echo Nest, established a new global standard in music personalization, having developed and introduced to the market ”machine listening” based
on music similarity, discovery and AI music creation.
Following the sale of Echo Nest in 2014, Tristan joined Spotify as the Director of Research where he focused on next generation technological advances and business opportunities, and scouted core technology acquisitions.
